The GRAMMY Museum in LA is set to premiere a new exhibition in Liverpool. The British Invasion: How 1960s Beat Groups Conquered America will open at the Beatles Story’s Pier Head site in October in a collaboration with the Liverpool attraction.
The exhibition will include a collection of rare, behind- the-scenes photos of The Beatles taken by Bob Bonis, who served as tour manager during all three of the band’s American tours. The intimate photographs capture candid moments from life on the road with the band. It will also feature a range of artefacts from musicians including Donovan and Ringo Starr. Bob Santelli, executive director at The GRAMMY Museum, said today: “We’re very excited to partner with the Beatles Story Liverpool to create The British Invasion: How 1960s Beat Groups Conquered America exhibition. “From radio playlists to merchandising to touring, we dug deep to uncover the American Blues roots and influencers at the heart of this invasion, exploring the impact musicians such as The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, Cilla Black, The Animals and Gerry and the Pacemakers, among others, had on the American popular music scene of the 1960s.”
