Paul McCartney's return to Seattle Friday for his highly anticipated Safeco Field show is stirring some embarrassing memories for iconic Seattle DJ and concert promoter Pat O'Day. O'Day was the program director and promoter of two Beatles shows at the old Seattle Coliseum (now KeyArena) on August 25, 1966. But several weeks before, he got a visit at KJR radio from a young woman who said she had to talk to him in private.

Former Nirvana members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear joined McCartney to perform Beatles classics such as 'Helter Skelter' at Seattle's Safeco Field to mark the venue's first ever music concert. The Nirvana trio stayed on during McCartney's encore to play along to several Beatles hits including 'Get Back, 'Long Tall Sally' and 'The End'. McCartney first played with Grohl and Novoselic at the Hurrican Sandy Benefit concert in December before being joined by Smear to play 'Cut Me Some Slack' - a song they recorded together for Grohl's Sound City film project - on Saturday Night Live.
MANILA – Singer-songwriter Paul McCartney, who gained worldwide fame as a member of The Beatles, has joined calls for the release of an elderly elephant in the Manila Zoo. According to the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), McCartney sent a letter to President Benigno Aquino III asking him to transfer Mali to a sanctuary in Thailand.

BENTON — A historical marker of international significance will recognize Benton’s place in the history of The Beatles. The marker will be dedicated later this year during a 50th anniversary commemoration of Beatle George Harrison’s visit to Benton in 1963.
Harrison traveled to the Franklin County city to visit his sister, Louise, then a resident of Benton. Harrison’s trip to Benton represents the first made to the United States by one of the famed Beatles.
The lowest-numbered sleeve from the Beatles' White Album will star in Heritage Auctions' August 10 Entertainment and Music Memorabilia Signature Auction in Dallas.
